Sodium Formate

Sodium Formate (English name: Sodium formate; Formic acid sodium salt), also known as sodium formate, contains two crystal waters in its crystals, hence it is also known as sodium formate dihydrate, sodium formate dihydrate, or sodium formate dihydrate. Sodium formate is the simplest organic carboxylate salt, appearing as white crystals or powder with a slight formic acid odor. Slightly deliquescent and hygroscopic. Easy to dissolve in about 1.3 parts water and glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol and octanol, insoluble in ether. Its aqueous solution is alkaline. Sodium formate decomposes into hydrogen gas and sodium oxalate when heated, followed by the formation of sodium carbonate. Sodium formate is mainly used in the production of insurance powder, oxalic acid, and formic acid. Used as a camouflage acid in the chrome tanning process in the leather industry, as a catalyst and stabilizing synthetic agent, and as a reducing agent in the printing and dyeing industry. Sodium formate is harmless to the human body and has irritating effects on the eyes, respiratory system, and skin. The molecular formula is CHO2Na, and the chemical structure formula is HCOONa HCOONa·2H2O。  
Main purpose
Used in the leather industry, the main purposes are as follows:
(1) Mainly used for the production of formic acid, oxalic acid, and sodium hydrosulfite, as well as for the production of dimethylformamide. Also used in the pharmaceutical and printing and dyeing industries.;
(2) Used as a reagent, disinfectant, and mordant for the determination of phosphorus and arsenic;
(3) Used as a preservative. Usage 4: Used for alkyd resin coatings, plasticizers, and strong agents;
(4) Used as explosives, acid resistant materials, aviation lubricants, and adhesive additives.
